Niagara County to Host Presentation, Seek Community Input on Opioid Settlement Plan

Niagara County Director of Mental Health and Substance Abuses Services (NCDMH) Laura Kelemen will present a draft plan on how best to use the funds that came from the county’s portions of lawsuit settlements with pharmaceutical companies to the Legislature next Tuesday.  The public is invited to the presentation and will have the opportunity to comment and offer additional input. The draft plan was devised after NCDMH hosted two roundtable meetings last month with more than 60 stakeholders taking part.

These settlement funds are specifically intended to support individuals, and their families, in the wake of the opioid epidemic, in alignment with the design and intent of the New York State (NYS) Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) list of approved uses.

The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11 in the Legislative Chambers at the Niagara County Courthouse, 175 Hawley Street in Lockport.  The presentation will be available at niagaracounty.com following the presentation.
