- We are open to the public for walk-in service.
- You must be 21 years of age and be a resident of Niagara County. You are not required to own a handgun at the time of application.
- You may download a pistol permit application here, or request one by mail. Please send a 9x12 self-addressed stamped envelope to:

- Upon careful completion of the application, pistol permit applications must be submitted in-person at the Pistol Permit Office. A $10.00 application fee must be paid at this time. Check, cash, money order, MasterCard, Discover, or Visa. Payable to the Niagara County Clerk.
- Several background checks will be completed by the NYSP and FBI. Applicants will also be interviewed by their local law enforcement agency. After all necessary steps have been completed, the application will be submitted to the Licensing Officer.
- If approved, the applicant will receive notification to appear in person to begin completing the process.
- If you prefer to mail-in a completed Amendment form (see instructions below), the drop off boxes are still available for your convenience at all of the Niagara County DMV Offices.
