Wydysh, Andres Graduate from County Government Institute

Niagara Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh and Legislator Rich Andres have both graduated from the County Government Institute (CGI), a joint effort between the New York State Association of Counties and the Cornell University Community and Regional Development Institute.

CGI is founded on the three pillars of good government: leadership, integrity, and accountability.  Through courses and training within these pillars, CGI prepares rising and experienced county leaders for the challenges counties face, and equips them to engage in informed, constructive, and civil dialogue.  The core CGI curriculum includes requires courses on building consensus, financial management, ethics, management, and the foundations of county government.

“The breadth of responsibility serving in county government is beyond what anyone thinks when running for office, so CGI has been invaluable in helping me become an effective legislator for those I represent,” said Wydysh.

Andres added, “I have no doubt CGL helped me become a better legislator by providing me with a foundational knowledge of the tremendously broad range of issues that face counties every day and an understanding of how I could best impact those issues.”

Both legislators were recognized at the NYSAC fall seminar held in Buffalo in September.
