Temporary Assistance is a federally-funded program and is intended to help families who have little to no income.  It provides assistance to families who may have a member who can't find work, is unable to work or has a job with insufficient income.

Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) provides benefits to an eligible family for a maximum of 60 months in a lifetime.

Safety Net Assistance provides benefits to single persons and childless couples for a maximum of two years in a lifetime.  There are intake workers in both Niagara Falls and Lockport who review applications, interview applicants and explain the regulations or the programs.  More information can be obtained at: http://otda.ny.gov/programs/temporary-assistance/.  For more information about eligibility, please go to: https://www.mybenefits.ny.gov/
