Niagara County Legislature Celebrate National EMS Week

National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's frontline.  The Niagara County Legislature passed a proclamation into honor EMS personnel across the county – first responders, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, emergency medical dispatchers, firefighters, police officers, educators, administrators, pre-hospital nurses, emergency nurses, emergency physicians, trained members of the public, and other out of hospital medical care providers – to recognize theirEMS Week.5.25.23 important work for our residents.

Legislator Mike Hill, right, presented the proclamation to Niagara County Emergency Services Director Jonathan Schultz.  The text of the proclamation is below.

Proclamation

 WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service, and

WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services in Niagara County are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week without question, and

WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury, and

WHEREAS, pre-hospital emergency medical services provides selfless, professional, essential care, including life-saving measures becoming a lifeline for families in our communities, and

WHEREAS, the emergency medical services in Niagara County consists of first responders, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, emergency medical dispatchers, firefighters, police officers, educators, administrators, pre-hospital nurses, emergency nurses, emergency physicians, trained members of the public, and other out of hospital medical care providers, and

WHEREAS, the members of Niagara Counties emergency medical services, whether career or volunteer professionals, selflessly engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills, and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical service providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED the Niagara County Legislature, does hereby proclaim May 21st-27th, 2023, as:

“NATIONAL EMS WEEK”
