Legislature Declares May 7-13 "Correction Officers Week" in Niagara County

The Niagara County Legislature passed a resolution honoring our county corrections officers as part of National Correctional Officers Week, celebrated May 7 through May 13.  Pictured are Sheriff Michael Filicetti, Undersheriff Michael Dunn, Chief Jail Administrator Anthony Suess, Deputy Chief Jeffrey Kolbe and Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey.

 As the Sheriff's Office has said, it is crucial that we remember the importance of the mission of our Corrections employees. By standing their watch, walking their beats, and patrolling their fences, they ensure the safety of our community. However, this is only part of their work. It is their task to send people back to the community in a better condition than when they first entered the facility. It takes so much training, personal care and empathy to be successful in this career field. A Corrections Officer must be strong in mind, body and resolve.
