Niagara County to Hold Public Meetings on New Rural Transportation Bus Routes

Niagara County will host two public meetings next week on proposed route changes to its Rural Transportation bus service, which is being renamed Connect Niagara.  The meetings will be August 2 in Lockport and August 4 in Niagara Falls.

“Our Department of Public Works, in a tremendous partnership with the NFTA, has transformed the old Rural Transportation system into Connect Niagara which we believe will better serve our residents and hopefully encourage more ridership,” said Niagara County Legislator Wil Collins, Chairman of the Niagara County Legislature’s Infrastructure Committee.

Niagara County Public Works Commissioner Garret Meal presented the new plan to the Legislature last month and is now seeking public comments on the plan.

“Our goal is to provide a consistent and frequent bus schedule that ties directly into existing NFTA bus routes to complete a more comprehensive bus system across Niagara County,” said Meal.  “Riders will be able to use their ticket to transfer between the systems so we anticipate the integration being seamless.”
