Niagara County Announces Upcoming Closing of Section of Wilson Burt Rd

Niagara County Department of Public Works (DPW) Commissioner Garret Meal today announced that a section of Wilson Burt Rd in the Town of Newfane will be closed to all motorists, except local traffic, beginning August 15.  Detour signs will direct motorists to alternate routes.

The closure of Wilson Burt Rd is for a bridge replacement over Hopkins Creek.  Wilson Burt will be closed between Coomer and McClew roads.  The closure will last through project completion, which is expected this November.  The cost of the project is $822,000.

“This is our fourth bridge or culvert replacement project that we have undertaken this construction season, so our team is making tremendous progress in upgrading and maintaining our infrastructure,” said Meal.  “I want to always stress how much we appreciate the public’s patience as we have to close roads to do these projects.”
