Registration Now Open for Household Hazardous Waste Collection in Lockport

Niagara County Legislator Will Collins today announced that registration is now open for the county’s next household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event, which will be held on Saturday, October 8 in the Town of Lockport.  The event is open to all Niagara County residents but you must register in advance.

Collins said the event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Town of Lockport Municipal Center, 6560 Dysinger Road in Lockport.  Registration can be done by going to www.rethinkyourwaste.com/events and scrolling down to the Lockport event.  There is also a list of items that will be accepted for recycling posted to that website.

Dawn Timm, Niagara County Environmental Coordinator, said in the ten years the HHW program has been operating, more than 900,000 pounds of harmful products have been removed from Niagara County homes.

“The steps we take to encourage the recycling of paint and other HHW in a responsible manner ensures these materials do not end up in our soil or in our water, protecting our local environment,” said Timm.

Those with questions can email recycling@niagaracounty.com.
