Free Chronic Disease Management Classes

Offered by Department of Health Nursing Division and Office for the Aging

Do you have an on-going health condition?
The Niagara County Department of Health, in partnership with the Niagara County Office for the Aging, is offering free Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshops throughout the county for any individuals with an ongoing health condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or arthritis.

National Infant Immunization Week

National Infant Immunization Week is April 26 to May 3, 2014.  This is an annual observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable disease and to celebrate the achievements of immunization programs in promoting healthy communities throughout the United States.

Niagara County Reports First Animal Rabies Case of 2014

The Niagara County Department of Health has been notified that a raccoon submitted for rabies testing from Stone Road in the Town of Hartland was confirmed positive for rabies. This is the first rabid animal confirmed in the County this year. Two dogs are reported to have fought with the raccoon and killed it.

Health Department Nursing Division to Conduct Community Informational Sessions

A representative of the Niagara County Department of Health Division of Nursing will be speaking to seniors in the Town of Pendleton about free 6-week Chronic Disease Self-Management workshops scheduled this spring.  The health department representative will also talk about the National Diabetes Prevention Program, a 16-week program for individuals diagnosed as pre-diabetic by their doctors.
