June 5 COVID-19 Update

The Niagara County Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County:


                We regretfully report the deaths of five Niagara County residents due to COVID-19.  We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of these individuals:

  • A 74 year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • A 78 year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • An 82 year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • An 81 year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • A 90 year-old male with underlying health conditions

    The rest of the update is as follows:
  • 19 new positive cases
  • Total of 1123 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 203 active cases (191 isolating at home, 12 in hospital)
  • 845 recovered
  • 75 deaths
  • 16,102 people tested (source:


Quarantines, unlike isolations, are for people who are well and not showing symptoms, but may have been exposed to the virus.  Right now, 155 people are in quarantine and 943 have completed quarantine.

            Niagara County Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh will provide an update on COVID-19 today at 2 p.m.  The update will be live on LCTV and streamed at    This broadcast will then be available later in the day in LCTV’s on-demand library under “Niagara County Legislature” and on the county’s Facebook page.
