Medicaid is designed for low-income people who are unable to pay for medical care. Eligibility, is based on income and resources.

In most situations, unless you are disabled, over age 65 and/or receive Medicare, your application must be processed by the N.Y. State Department of Health.  Call 1-855-355-5777 to apply by phone or to obtain a list of Certified Application Counselors or Navigators in our area, who can help you apply.  You can also receive this information or apply online at http://nystateofhealth.ny.gov.

For the Community Service Society of New York, Public Policy and Education Fund, when you call the 1-800 number your press #2 for Erie and Niagara County's.  You get an operator who takes the client's information and then passes it to a navigator to contact the client to arrange for a place to meet.  They could meet at the client's house, or the library, or any place the client feels comfortable.   View a list of Navigators in Niagara County.
