The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) Immunization Program offers all required and recommended vaccines to individuals attending our clinics.  We follow the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the New York State Department of Health's (NYSDOH) recommendations and policies.  Our goal is to increase immunization rates in Niagara County and to prevent the occurrence and transmission of vaccine preventable diseases by ensuring the delivery and availability of vaccines to all children and adults.

NCDOH participates in the Vaccine for Children (VFC) Program.  Vaccines are provided free of charge to children under 19 years of age if they qualify for the VFC vaccine.  NCDOH also participates in the Vaccine for Adult (VFA) Program.  NYSDOH provides the NCDOH immunization program with free vaccines for adults 19 and older.  This is used for people that attend our clinics who are uninsured and underinsured.

For children under 18 years of age, a parent or other responsible adult must be with the child during the clinic visit.  It is also important to bring the child's immunization record with you.  If a parent is unable to bring the child to clinic, a responsible adult over the age of 18 can bring the child.  The parent must provide the responsible adult with the child's immunization record and a signed permission slip stating who is bringing their child to clinic and that he/she has permission for their child to receive the necessary vaccines. 

If you require a tuberculin skin test for college entrance or for your job, you will need two appointments; one to have the test applied and one to read the results two to three days later.

Vaccines for International Travel

travel vaccines_1Niagara County Department of Health offers vaccines for adults and children that are traveling outside of the United States.  Due to diseases and outbreaks that can occur outside of the United States, it is important to be immunized to protect yourself and your children from vaccine preventable diseases.  You should plan to receive your travel vaccines at least four to six weeks before travel to build up immunity and allow time for those that may require more than one dose.  During the clinic visit, we will provide information on the CDC's Traveler's Health website. Niagara County Department of Health is also an authorized and certified provider for yellow fever vaccine.  Based on your destination, the following vaccines are available at our clinics and are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for international travel:

  • Meningococcal

  • Rabies vaccine for pre-exposure to the disease

  • Typhoid - (Self-Pay: Cash/Credit Card ONLY; we do not bill insurance for this vaccine)
  • Yellow Fever - (Self-Pay: Cash/Credit Card ONLY; we do not bill insurance for this vaccine)
Payment
There is no fee for the vaccines provided by the VFC and VFA programs, but there is an administration fee.  For those not eligible for the VFC and VFA programs, payment in the form of cash, check made payable to Niagara County Department of Health, Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted.  We accept most insurances.  If we are unable to bill your insurance provider, an itemized receipt will be given to you to submit to your insurance.   Payment in full (including insurance copayments) is to be paid at the time of your clinic appointment.
