The Niagara County Department of Health Nursing Division will be offering a free Diabetes Prevention Program at the Dale Association, located at 33 Ontario Street in Lockport, beginning on April 3, 2014.  This is an evidence based, 16 week program, designed to help participants reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes.  The classes are 1 hour in length from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and will run for 16 consecutive Thursdays.  These sessions are followed by a group of 6-8 monthly sessions designed to offer additional support and help in maintaining lifestyle changes.  The class will help participants to improve food choices, increase physical activity and learn coping skills to maintain weight loss and healthy lifestyle changes.

If you are over 18 years of age and have been told by your physician that you are pre-diabetic, or have questions about whether you might qualify for this workshop, please call 278-1900 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for more information, and to register for the class.
