Niagara County Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh today said the Niagara County Opioid Task Force will be running a Community of Hope campaign at the Niagara County Fair, asking residents to submit an encouraging message to an unknown individual who may be struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues.

“The Opioid Task Force is set up under the Sheriff’s tent at the fair and has a Community of Hope box where residents can write and submit a positive message to those who are facing dark times,” said Wydysh.  “To those who are struggling, words of encouragement to keep fighting really do make a difference and send a message that our community cares about them.”

All the messages will then become part of a public awareness campaign after the fair to encourage those having any issues to seek help through the Niagara Crisis Services hotline at (716) 285-3515.  Crisis Services is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and provides free, confidential support and assistance to any resident in need.

“I encourage people to take a minute to stop by our tent, learn more about the Opioid Task Force and offer up a message of hope to one of your fellow residents,” said Wydysh.
