Niagara County Accepting Grant Applications for Small Business COVID-19 Funds

Niagara County Economic Development Commissioner Appointed to State Farmland Protection Working Group

Niagara County Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh today announced that the county’s Commissioner of Economic Development, Michael Casale, has been appointed to the New York State Farmland Protection Working Group (FPWG).  Casale was one of 18 members of the FPWG announced by state Agricultural Commissioner Richard Ball.

Niagara County Legislator Owen Steed to host Thanksgiving Takeout Dinner

Niagara County Legislator Owen Steed will host his annual Thanksgiving Dinner for local families on Monday, November 22, but rather than a sit down dinner, residents will pick up dinners to take home and enjoy.  Steed said the format change was primarily based on the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Niagara County Wins Diamond Award for Landfill Project

Niagara County Legislator Mike Hill announced that Niagara County has won a 2021 Diamond Award in the environmental category from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC) for the Niagara County Landfill No. 1 Improvement Project.  Legislator Hill and Environmental Coordinator Dawn Timm made a presentation on the award at last night’s meeting of the county Legislature.

Vietnam Veterans Wall, Photo Exhibit on Display at Niagara County Courthouse

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski hosted a brief ceremony on Tuesday to open a display of the Niagara County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and the “Our Photo Album” exhibit featuring photos taken by Vietnam veterans during their tours of duty.  The display will be open at least through Veteran’s Day, Thursday, November 11 at the Niagara County Courthouse in Lockport.

Niagara County Releases Draft Redistricting Plan

The Niagara County Redistricting Commission today released its proposed map for the county’s 15 legislative districts based on 2020 census data.  Redistricting takes place once every 10 years.  The commission also announced two public hearings for the public to comment on the plan before it is forwarded to the Niagara County Legislature.

Legislator Robins Calls for Better Access between NU & Niagara Gorge

Legislator Gooch Asks Governor Hochul to Intervene on Shawnee Rd. Speed Limit

Niagara County Legislator Jesse Gooch today sent a letter to Governor Hochul asking her to intervene in efforts to lower the speed limit on Shawnee Road in the Town of Wheatfield.  Residents have been seeking a speed limit reduction for years, but the state Department of Transportation has refused the request.

NIAGARA COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING ADDS ANOTHER WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VAN TO FLEET

The Niagara County Office for the Aging announced today that it had recently taken delivery of a brand new bariatric accessible wheelchair van, expanding the Office’s transportation fleet to 13 vehicles.
