NIAGARA COUNTY DMV TO BEGIN SOME WALK-IN HOURS

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski today announced that the Niagara County Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will be putting a schedule in place that allows residents to come to a local DMV office without an appointment one day a week at each of the county’s three DMV offices.

Niagara County Youth Bureau Accepting Applications for the Summer Food Service Program

The Niagara County Youth Bureau will return as a sponsor for the 2021 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). This program ensures that children who are economically disadvantaged continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation. Meals are comparable to the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs (NSBP and NSLP, respectively) throughout the school year.

Niagara County Clerk Says Driver’s License Expiration Extended Again

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski today said Governor Cuomo has issued Executive Order 202.97 which extends the expiration dates on licenses and permits that expired after March 1, 2020 to April 16, 2021.  At this time, all transaction must be done by appointment only, although Jastrzemski said his office is working to change that next month.

LEGISLATOR GODFREY PROPOSES SOLAR PANEL RECYCLING LAW

Niagara County Legislator Dave Godfrey, joined by all of his colleagues in the Legislature’s Majority, will propose a local law that requires solar panel manufacturers to finance the recovery and recycling of any of their solar panels installed in Niagara County when the panel is replaced.

Niagara County DA Warns of Utility Scam

Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman today alerted Niagara County residents to fraudulent phone calls being made to residents purporting to be a National Grid employee.  The supposed National Grid employees tells the resident that National Grid is sending a truck out to disconnect their power unless a payment is immediately made to National Grid via Zelle (on online payment service.)

NIAGARA COUNTY SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Program also looking to add additional worksites across the county

 

Niagara County Employment & Training has announced that applications are now being accepted for the department’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). In order to be considered for the program, applicants must be a county resident, be between 14-20 years-old (must turn 14 by 5/14/21 and cannot turn 21 until after 8/27/21), and meet income guidelines.

Legislator Hill Says Safety Improvements Coming to Dangerous Rt. 77 Intersection

Niagara County Legislator Mike Hill today said that the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) Traffic Group has completed a safety evaluation and will be making safety improvements to the intersection of Lewiston Road (Rt. 77) and Griswold Street in the Town of Royalton.

Niagara County DA Warns of Unemployment Insurance Fraud

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman today said that the filing of fraudulent unemployment insurance claims using stolen identities continues to be a problem and that his office is working closely with the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) to address the issue.

Niagara County to Host Agribusiness Outreach Forum

The Niagara County Center for Economic Development today announced it will again host its annual Agribusiness Outreach Forum, although this year’s event will be done virtually.   The event will be held over two days, March 23 and March 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day.  Last year’s forum had to be cancelled due to COVID-19.
