The Niagara County Youth Bureau is seeking a new representative for the New York State Governor’s Youth Council. The Youth Council is to be made up of one young person age 13-21 from each of New York State’s 62 counties. 

Niagara County Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh delivered the State of the County address at Tuesday's meeting of the Niagara County Legislature.

“That is why we have come together in a bipartisan manner to call on the state to end the mask mandate in schools." 

The Niagara County Center for Economic Development today announced the addition of “Economic Gardening”, to its list of economic development programs.  In partnership with Invest Buffalo Niagara, Niagara County is offering this program to second stage companies that are looking to accelerate growth.

The Niagara County Department of Public Works today announced that Tom Yaeger, the longtime PGA golf pro at the Niagara County Golf Course in Lockport, will be retiring after two decades working for Niagara County and more than 40 years in the golf profession.

Niagara County Rural Transportation has canceled all service for today, Tuesday, January 18.  

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski today reminded pistol permit holders that under the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act (SAFE) of Jan.15, 2013, they must re-certify every five years with the New York State Police.  That means those who either received their permit or recertified in 2017 must now recertify by the date of issuance on their permit. 

Niagara County Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh today announced that Niagara County had received a shipment of COVID-19 at-home test kits from New York State and that the county will be holding three simultaneous drive-thru events to distribute the kits to the public this Saturday, January 8.  Each at-home test kit contains two COVID-19 tests. 

The Niagara County Department of Emergency Services and the Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce are cohosting a free drive thru mask giveaway for businesses on January 6, 2021 at the county’s Public Safety Training Facility in Lockport.  Masks and signage about state masking requirements are available for any Niagara County business, though supplies are limited.

The Niagara County Legislature today announced its expected leadership positions for the coming year.  These positions become official when the Legislature reorganizes at is January 4^th meeting.
