Niagara County Legislator Tony Nemi and Pendleton Supervisor Joel Maerten today said that the Niagara County Department of Public Works (DPW) will undertake a traffic safety review of Bear Ridge Road in Pendleton where a merging lane from Tonawanda Creek has been the site of several accidents.  Bear Ridge is a county-owned road.

The Niagara County Department of Health will be holding its COVID-19 Point of Dispensing (POD) vaccine clinic this week at the Transit Drive-In in Lockport.  New first-dose vaccine appointments for eligible individuals 18 years and older are now available as follows

Jastrzemski today reminded the public that April is celebrated as national “Donate Life Month.”  Residents are asked to consider registering as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those that have saved lives through the gift of a donation.

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski today announced that the Niagara County Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will be putting a schedule in place that allows residents to come to a local DMV office without an appointment one day a week at each of the county’s three DMV offices.  

Niagara County Legislator Anita Mullane and Lockport Mayor Michelle Roman announced today they have partnered with Windsong Radiology to bring 3D Screening Mammography to the City of Lockport. 

The Niagara County Youth Bureau will return as a sponsor for the 2021 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). This program ensures that children who are economically disadvantaged continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation. Meals are comparable to the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs (NSBP and NSLP, respectively) throughout the school year. 

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski today said Governor Cuomo has issued Executive Order 202.97 which extends the expiration dates on licenses and permits that expired after March 1, 2020 to April 16, 2021.  At this time, all transaction must be done by appointment only, although Jastrzemski said his office is working to change that next month.

Niagara County Legislator Dave Godfrey, joined by all of his colleagues in the Legislature’s Majority, will propose a local law that requires solar panel manufacturers to finance the recovery and recycling of any of their solar panels installed in Niagara County when the panel is replaced.  

Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman today alerted Niagara County residents to fraudulent phone calls being made to residents purporting to be a National Grid employee.  The supposed National Grid employees tells the resident that National Grid is sending a truck out to disconnect their power unless a payment is immediately made to National Grid via Zelle (on online payment service.)

Niagara County Employment & Training has announced that applications are now being accepted for the department’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). In order to be considered for the program, applicants must be a county resident, be between 14-20 years-old (must turn 14 by 5/14/21 and cannot turn 21 until after 8/27/21), and meet income guidelines.
