Niagara County Offers FREE Evidence Based Workshops

The Niagara County Department of Health Nursing Division, in collaboration with the Niagara County Office for the Aging, is offering free workshops throughout Niagara County for individuals with any ongoing health condition; for example, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, pain and high blood pressure.  


Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP)

This six-week workshop helps participants learn or enhance their skills and ability to manage their health and maintain an active lifestyle. Caregivers are also welcome.

Workshops are scheduled to begin on:

·      Monday, March 12 (12:30 PM – 3:00 PM); North Tonawanda Senior Center, 110 Goundry St, NT

·      Friday, March 23 (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM) Elks Lodge, 6791 North Canal Road, Lockport


Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)

This 16-week workshop has been proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.  Individuals learn skills to make lasting lifestyle changes, including healthy eating, adding physical activity to their lives, how to manage stress and how to stay motivated.


Workshops are scheduled to begin on:

·      Tuesday, March 13 (9:00 AM – 10:00 AM); Eastern Niagara Hospital, 521 East Avenue, Lockport
