Niagara County Offers Free Evidence Based Health Workshops

The Niagara County Department of Health Nursing Division, in collaboration with the Niagara County Office for the Aging, is offering free workshops throughout Niagara County for individuals with any ongoing health condition; for example, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, pain and high blood pressure.  

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (once a week for six weeks)

This 6-week workshop helps participants learn or enhance their skills and ability to manage their health and maintain an active lifestyle. Caregivers are also welcome.  Workshops are scheduled to begin on:

  • Wednesdays, November 14th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am – John Duke Senior Center, 1201 Hyde Park Boulevard, Niagara Falls, 14301

Diabetes Self-Management Program (once a week for six weeks)

This 6-week workshop helps participants learn or improve problem-solving and decision-making skills, enabling them to confront the challenges of living with diabetes.  Caregivers are also welcome.  Workshops are scheduled to begin on:

  • Tuesdays, November 6th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am – Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, 621 10th Street, Niagara Falls 14301

Diabetes Prevention Program (once a week for 16 weeks, then once a month for 6-8 months)

This 16-week workshop has been proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.  Individuals learn skills to make lasting lifestyle changes, including healthy eating, physical activity, stress management and staying motivated.  Workshops are scheduled to begin on:

  • Wednesdays, October 17th from 10:30 am to 11:30 am – The Dale Association, 33 Ontario Street, Lockport, 14094
