The Niagara County Department of Health actively seeks partnerships with local educators to bring Public Health Education to students. The Department's Healthy Neighborhoods Program recognizes educators participating in this initiative by designating them as Honored Educators. Five Educators from Niagara County have been recognized as Honored Educators by the Niagara County Department of Health. Mr. Lenny LeBlanc, Niagara Street School, Niagara Falls; Ms. Wendy Seguin and Ms. Melissa Mahoney, both of Ohio Street School, North Tonawanda; Ms. Jaime Haenisch, YWCA, Niagara County; and Ms. Alice Mackey, North Park Middle School, Lockport, have all brought Public Health Education presentations into their classrooms and an after-school program to teach the children health and safety topics. “We value our partnership with local educators and the tremendous health benefits to our communities when younger generations are empowered with the knowledge they need to make healthy choices” stated Public Health Director Daniel J. Stapleton.

Public Health Education presentations are available to all schools in Niagara County through the Healthy Neighborhoods Program. Ms. Theresa McCabe, Public Health Educator and Manager of the Healthy Neighborhoods Program, will present the educators with certificates acknowledging the educators' commitment to their students well being. “We appreciate teachers that recognize our children’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Our ability to team up with these teachers to share valuable public health messaging benefits our entire community” stated Director of Environmental Health, Paul Dicky.

If you have additional questions regarding Environmental Health Education opportunities with topics available for all ages, please call Ms. Theresa McCabe at (716) 439-7479.
