Health Insurance Information, Counseling, and Assistance Program (HIICAP)

HIICAP provides Medicare beneficiaries with free, unbiased information and assistance related to health insurance.

A HIICAP Counselor can:Insurance agent

  • Help you understand your medical bills
  • Help you understand your health insurance policies
  • Provide information on Long-Term Care Insurance
  • Provide information on Medicare Managed Care
  • The service is free and confidential

HIICAP volunteers provide services at sites throughout Niagara County.

Need help paying for Medicare and Medicare Part D?  Come to this important event!  Get the basics on programs that help to pay the out of pocket costs of Medicare and Medicare Part D, such as the Extra-Help Program, Medicare Savings Program and NYS EPIC.  EPIC is a NYS program that provides additional drug coverage and premium assistance for seniors with Medicare Part D.  You can join EPIC if you are 65 or older, a NYS resident, and have an annual income up to $75,000 (single), and $100,000 (married).

Representatives from Niagara County Office for the Aging will be available to help enroll seniors on the following dates at the listed sites:

Learn about Medicare - Medicare 101 Workshop

Are you new to Medicare?  Are you receiving Medicare benefits now but are overwhelmed and/or confused by all the information and options?  If so, come to a free Medicare 101 session for some helpful, unbiased information including:

  • The basics of original Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D, Supplemental Insurance
  • Medicare costs, co-pays and deductibles, and what assistance is available for low-income beneficiaries
  • Medicare Preventive Benefits, and NYS EPIC

Registration is required.  Seating is limited, Call 438-3030 to register.  Workshops held at the following location:
