Health Insurance Information, Counseling, and Assistance Program (HIICAP)

HIICAP provides Medicare beneficiaries with free, unbiased information and assistance related to health insurance.

A HIICAP Counselor can:Insurance agent

  • Help you understand your medical bills
  • Help you understand your health insurance policies
  • Provide information on Long-Term Care Insurance
  • Provide information on Medicare Managed Care
  • The service is free and confidential

HIICAP volunteers provide services at sites throughout Niagara County.

Need help paying for Medicare and Medicare Part D?  Come to this important event!  Get the basics on programs that help to pay the out of pocket costs of Medicare and Medicare Part D, such as the Extra-Help Program, Medicare Savings Program and NYS EPIC.  EPIC is a NYS program that provides additional drug coverage and premium assistance for seniors with Medicare Part D.  You can join EPIC if you are 65 or older, a NYS resident, and have an annual income up to $75,000 (single), and $100,000 (married).

Representatives from Niagara County Office for the Aging will be available to help enroll seniors on the following dates at the listed sites:

The Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program
needs volunteer counselors to help people understand health insurance options and long term care insurance options.
Training and certification is provided. Make your own hours at a senior center near you.

The Office for the Aging is funded by the New York State Office for the Aging with Older Americans Act and New York State funds, and by Niagara County.

Contributions are welcomed and are used to enhance our programs. Suggested Contributions
