LOCKPORT—The Niagara County Department of Social Services Program Integrity Unit, working with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney’s Office, announced today they have saved the taxpayers of Niagara County $3,889,542 as a result of various cost avoidance measures.

The Program Integrity Unit’s work ensures that only those people that are eligible receive assistance.

“The work of our Program Integrity Unit goes a long way in providing the public confidence that we are doing everything we can to curb fraud, waste and abuse. Their dedication is greatly appreciated by all of us on the Legislature”, said Legislator Richard L. Andres, chairman of the County Legislature’s Community Services Committee.
