LEWISTON—County residents will have the opportunity to rid themselves of obsolete technology and old office equipment next weekend at a recycling event being held in the town of Lewiston.

The free electronics recycling event, set for Saturday, Oct. 21, was announced jointly by Niagara County Legislator Rebecca Wydysh, Lewiston Supervisor Steve Broderick, and Lewiston Highway Superintendent Dave Trane. Lewiston, Modern Corp. and Sunnking Inc. are partnering with the Niagara County Refuse District to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of electronics—which are heavily regulated under New York State’s refuse laws.

“We all have old electronics tucked-away somewhere in our homes and basements.  This is a tremendous opportunity to safely and properly recycle these items,” said Wydysh. “Volunteers from Modern will be there to help, so you won’t even need to step out of the car. My thanks to Modern for being such a gracious host and my colleagues Steve Broderick and Dave Trane at the Town of Lewiston for supporting this event.”

Recyclable electronics will be collected at Modern’s Model City headquarters, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Residents seeking to dispose of unwanted computers, televisions, and small appliances can drop off and properly recycle their unused household electronics at this drive-through collection event, free of charge.

The drive-through style collection will be held across the street from Modern Headquarters, 4746 Model City Road.  Residents are encouraged to bring electronic waste from their homes, including televisions, computers, printers and home entertainment equipment.

The following items will not be accepted: batteries, gas-powered equipment and Freon-containing devices.
