Healthy Neighborhood Program

The Healthy Neighborhoods Program of the Niagara County Department of Health is a grant-funded program designed to improve the environmental health and safety of individuals living in target areas.

Home visits are conducted to assess health and safety concerns.

A checklist is reviewed with residents, and safety items (fuses, smoke detectors, batteries for smoke detectors, safety plugs, cleaning supplies, switch and outlet cover plates, and various other items) are provided as needed.

Carbon monoxide levels in the home can be checked during the visit.NF Memorial Medical Center

Community participation

In addition to the Healthy Neighborhoods Program staff, several others in the community assist the program. Residents from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's Family Practice, nursing students from local colleges including Niagara County Community College, participants from Experience Works Inc., Niagara University students, and others have been a great assist to our program.NCCC
